Community Education
Fire Safety Education & Station Tours
Baldwin Fire Rescue believes the best way to fight fires is to prevent them. Our firefighters visit local schools, daycares, and senior communities to deliver hands-on fire safety demonstrations, and we welcome groups and visitors to our stations throughout the year.
Fire Safety Education
Hands-On Demos for Schools, Daycares & Senior Communities
Our firefighters visit local facilities to teach fire safety through interactive demonstrations. We bring the fire truck, show kids and adults what firefighters look and sound like in full gear (so they’re not afraid during a real emergency), and cover the basics that save lives.
Where We Visit
Daycares & Preschools
Age-appropriate fire safety for our youngest community members. Kids meet firefighters, see the truck up close, and learn Stop Drop & Roll, how to call 911, and what to do when they hear a smoke alarm.
Elementary School
Fire safety demonstrations covering escape planning, smoke alarm awareness, kitchen safety, and what to do in a fire. Students learn to plan two ways out of every room and where to meet outside.
Senior Living Community
Fire safety tailored for older adults — cooking safety, space heater precautions, escape planning for mobility challenges, and the importance of working smoke and CO alarms.
What We Cover
Stop, Drop & Roll
What to do if your clothes catch fire
Escape Planning
Two ways out of every room, meeting place outside
Smoke Alarms
What they sound like, why they matter, test monthly
Calling 911
When to call, what to say, stay on the line
Meet a Firefighter
Full turnout gear demo — so kids aren’t scared during a real fire
Kitchen Safety
Cooking is the #1 cause of home fires — stay in the kitchen

Station Tours
Come See Where We Work
Want to see a fire station up close? We welcome visitors. Whether you’re a scout troop, a church group, a curious family, or just someone who stopped by — if a firefighter is at the station, we’re happy to show you around.
What You’ll See
- Fire engines and our aerial truck up close
- Turnout gear and firefighting equipment
- How firefighters gear up and respond to calls
- The station itself — bay, living area, training space
- A chance to ask questions and meet volunteer firefighters
Good to Know
Tours are informal and depend on firefighter availability. If we get a call during your visit, we have to go — but that’s part of the experience! Call ahead to schedule a group visit, or just stop by and say hello.
For Groups
Scout troops, school classes, daycares, church groups, birthday parties — we’ve hosted all kinds. Give us a call to set up a time so we can make sure someone is at the station to greet you.
Fire Prevention Week
Every October during National Fire Prevention Week, fire departments across the country ramp up community education efforts. This is a great time to schedule a visit, attend an open house, or brush up on your family’s fire safety plan. Follow us on Facebook for event announcements.
