For the month of March, Baldwin Fire Rescue answered 93 calls for service, Bringing our year to date total to 244. That is a 44 incident increase from this time last year.
Last months weekly trainings started with practicing hose line advancements and SCBA competency. It finished with training on the 2 new apparatus to BFR, Engine 1 and AV 1.
Early in the month BFR took delivery of our 2025 Sutphen which will serve as Engine 1 out of station 1. Members have also been diligently working on training and equipping the new engine to get it in service in the very near future.
Late last year we received a grant to purchase a ATV unit and which was bought in december. We then received a additional grant for a skid unit for it as well. Members from station 2 throughout the winter were able to install the skid unit and all emergency and work lighting. Recently several members completed a drivers instructor course to be certified in training our members on ATV driving and trailering. This past month has finally allowed us to begin training our members on the ATV.
March was a very busy month from incidents, trainings and everything in between. None of which would be possible without our dedicated members!
